Reflexology is a pressure therapy which works on the feet or hands. It has been used for over 5000 years, but its most recent form extends from work on Zone therapy by Dr William Fitzgerald in the early 1900s. This was developed further during the 1930's by Eunice Ingham when she observed the connections between tensions/congestion in the foot and corresponding areas of the body.
Illness, stress, injury or disease leaves the body in a state of "imbalance", and vital energy pathways are blocked, preventing the body from functioning effectively. Reflexology may be used to restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium and encourage healing.
